2010 Tractor Rules
Tractor General Rules
- Be a Professional.
- Pullers must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Minors must have parent or guardian consent. No one under the age of 18 will pull outside the Farm Stock Classes. No one younger than 12 years of age will be allowed to pull. Due to insurance reasons, a birth certificate will be required to verify the age of minors.
- All pulls will be made from drawbar.
- Drawbar height MAXIMUM will be 20” to the top of the drawbar.
- All pullers must furnish their own twisted clevis or a 3” hoop hole.
- Clevis must be fastened to the drawbar with a 3/4” or larger bolt and safety pin.
- One fuel type only.
- Pulling order will be determined randomly by draw. All pullers must pull in assigned order within three minutes or be subject to disqualification.
- Operator must remain seated and drive in a safe manner.
- Tractors must operate in a safe manner at all times. No chain jerking or hot-rodding allowed.
- All tractors must be in neutral or park when being hooked or unhooked from sled. “Hands up” signal by the driver will be used to indicate this is being followed.
- Tractor must remain within the boundaries of the track. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
- Tractor must be occupied while it is running.
- Loss of any weight or part of the tractor will be grounds for disqualification.
- All pulls must start with a tight chain and be straight in-line with the sled.
- Contestants will have two consecutive attempts and 100 feet to start the sled.
- All drivers pull at their own risk. Championship Pulling Series, Inc. and Promoter of the event shall not be held responsible for any accident or injuries.
- Class pulling order and drivers order will be posted.
- Judges have the option to reposition any puller in a class and adjust class running order based on class participation.
- Violations of any rule shall constitute a disqualification. Arguing with judges will not be tolerated, and will result in immediate disqualification.
- One driver and one pit person per vehicle.
- First puller in each class will have option to pull again. This decision must be made by the driver immediately following their first pull. If a re-pull is decided, driver and tractor must immediately return to the lineup to pull, and will pull in the 4th position. No adjustments are allowed between re-hook, or disqualification will result.
- Spot checks will be made during the season.
- Tractors will be stopped if front wheels are more than 24” off the ground.
- All tractors must scale prior to hooking to sled, immediately prior to the start of your class.
- Once weighed, you are staged. Leaving the staging area is not allowed.
- NO BEER OR ALCOHOL IN PIT!!!! No consumption of alcohol until all pulling by contestant is completed.
- Track officials have the right to move a puller to a different class.
- A driver’s meeting will be held prior to event start time.
- Violations of any rule shall constitute a disqualification. Arguing with judges will not be tolerated, and will result in immediate disqualification.
- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY TO EVERY CLASS!!!
- All JUDGES’ DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!! Failure to obey track officials will result in disqualification and may lead to removal from event.
Farm Stock Rules
The farm stock class is for tractors right out of the field. These tractors are the same appearance as when they come from the factory.
- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- Tractors may hook twice, once per weight class.
- Only OEM stock engine blocks allowed. No 800 HD Minneapolis Moline engine components allowed. Block driveline/transmission and sheet metal must be of the same manufacturer.
- No tractors will be stripped to make a class.
- All components will be on the tractor, i.e.: fenders, PTO, hydraulics, 3-point hitch: it all needs to be there. In addition, OEM seats and grills are required.
- All tractors 9000 lbs. and up will have a wide front end.
- All classes will operate under a strict speed limit rule. Those speeds will be as follows: 4 MPH, 6 MPH and 8 MPH. All classes will be allowed 100 feet to adjust speed, and only one warning is allowed after 100 feet. Any speed violations after first warning will result in disqualification.
- Only cast OEM heads allowed. Diesel to gas conversions is not allowed.
- Side shields are not allowed unless it was OEM.
- OEM frames only. No aluminum frames or custom built frames allowed.
- Gasoline, diesel, or propane fuels only. Only one fuel permitted. Nitrous Oxide not allowed. Nitrous methane is not allowed. E-85 is allowed.
- Add on turbos are NOT allowed.
- Turbo tractors: all oil lines, exhaust systems and intake tubing must be installed in a completely stock manner and must be installed in order to compete. Air filter elements are not required. Turbos must be OEM.
- Only one injection pump allowed. One single updraft carburetor allowed and must be bolted to OEM stock intake manifolds without any alterations. No downdraft carburetors, unless OEM. Only OEM or after-market replacement manifolds allowed. Exhaust must exit in OEM location.
- In reference to rule #3: fenders are to be OEM only. They must support the weight of the driver and must be at least 6 inches above the tire. Clam shells are required on smaller weight classes, unless the tractor came without them (such as John Deere A’s and B’s.)
- All pulls must be made from drawbar. Drawbar must be set up in such a manner that it will not move during a pull.
- All tractors will hook to a twisted clevis.
- No drawbar will be stabilized with chains or irons.
- Drawbar must be OEM.
- Drawbar will be standard length as used on the farm
- Weights must be attached to a weight bracket. No weight can extend more than 24 inches beyond front of the tractor.
- 100 lb. grace weight will be allowed.
- Tractors newer than 1950 must have working PTO shafts and hydraulic systems. (Power steering and power brakes do NOT count as hydraulic system.) Upon the judge’s discretion, the PTO and hydraulics may be tested on a piece of equipment.
- No weights will be hung off of 3-point arm in any fashion. A weight bracket must be installed.
- Tire size is limited to 20.8 x 38 MAXIMUM, up to 12,000 lb class. 42’s are allowed in classes above that.
- Each tractor will only be allowed one hook per weight class.
After-Chore Class (Formerly Improved Farm)

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- Wheelie bars recommended for 2009. Required in 2010.
- No water injection.
- No cut tires allowed. Maximum tire size is 20.8 x 38.
- 3800 RPM limit.
- Block, driveline, transmission, rear axle, and sheet metal must match model of manufacturer. No side shields allowed!
- No custom frames or front axles. Must have stock front axles.
- Must have a working PTO and hydraulics. You must be able to turn PTO off, without shutting tractor off.
- No intercooler or aftercoolers allowed.
- 466 cubic inch maximum.
- One 2.6 turbo only. No slots or slugs authorized.
- V-8 engines are allowed if OEM.
- Diesel fuel only. No mixing of alcohol and/or windshield washer fluid allowed.
- Fuel system restricted to OEM only.
- All tractors must be equipped with a sturdy floorboard that will support driver’s weight and must be equipped with factory fenders.
- Required in 2010: Tractor must be equipped with a shutoff centered above drawbar. In addition, you must have a way to shutoff fuel before fuel pump.
Hobby Stock Rules

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- Tractors must have OEM stock engine block.
- No V8 automobile engines
- No cubic inch limit
- Any type or configuration of carburetion allowed.
- Down draft allowed.
- Four barrels allowed. No fuel injection.
- No fuel or air additives of any kind. Absolutely no nitrous oxide, alcohol, methanol, or nitro-methane.
- One fuel only.
- No Turbo chargers allowed.
- Cut tires are allowed. 20.8 x 38 MAXIMUM. Any cut allowed.
- All tractors must have metal tire-high fenders, steel flywheels, wheelie bars (connected in at least two spots), a scatter shield at least ¼” thick (or a six-ply scatter blanket), and a safety kill switch located a minimum of 24” above the drawbar, centered and directly above the drawbar. All tractors must have a 2.5lb fire extinguisher installed within easy reach of the driver and a SFI approved safety helmet.
- Roll cages, wide front ends, five-point safety harnesses and complete SFI approved fire suit required in 2010. It is recommended for the 2009 season.
- Must have frame tie bars if the tractor doesn’t have a continuous frame to the transmission.
- Electric fans are required. Stock engine driver fans are not allowed.
- A signed driver statement required for flywheel.
Hot Farm Rules (Formerly Improved Farm)

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- Up to 466ci - a 3x4 turbo is allowed. Above 466ci up to 600ci. - a 3x3 turbo is allowed.
- Fuel pump restricted to an A-Pump, unless P-Pump came installed as OEM.
- No cut tires allowed. 20.8 x 38 MAXIMUM
- Roll Bar or Roll Cage recommended for 2009. Required in 2010.
- No RPM limit.
- Block, driveline/transmission, rear axle, and sheet metal must match the model of manufacturer.
- No custom frames or front axles. Tractors must have stock wide front ends and frame rails.
- Must have working PTO or hydraulics.
- Water injection is allowed.
- Must have side shields if running a belt driven fan. An electric fan is preferred.
- Wheelie bars and a kill switch located directly above the drawbar are required.
- No intercoolers allowed.
Limited Light Super Stock

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- 466 cubic inches MAXIMUM. One 3x4 turbo. 315ci and under can run twin chargers (staged). Cannot have two intake openings, or exceed 3” inlet.
- P-Pumps only.
- No use of nitrous oxide allowed.
- Alcohol allowed.
- All tractors must be equipped with the following safety equipment: steel flywheel, wheelie bar with bumpers strong enough to support weight of tractor (bumpers must extend 2” beyond back of tires and be no higher than 10” off of the ground and must be connected in at least 2 places), fenders, kill switch (centered and directly above the drawbar), 2.5lb fire extinguisher, and SFI approved scatter blanket, and a roll cage. Seatbelt must work and be worn and a SFI approved helmet must be worn or tractor will not be able to pull. Tractor must have a second shutoff at the pump. Side shields must be able to be removed quickly.
- Safety equipment and other components must be made available for inspection upon request of judges and upon protests.
- SFI approved helmet and five-point harness required. This includes gloves and shoes SFI approved.
- 370ci spark ignition engine, single charger allowed.
- No intercoolers or aftercoolers allowed.
- OEM cast iron heads only, Deutz being the exception.
- 24.5x32 cut tires allowed. No HP pullers.
- Upgrading of blocks allowed, but must follow OEM lines.
- No component chassis.
- Assigned driver statement required for flywheel.
Light Super Stock Rules

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- Multiple turbos allowed.
- Tractors allowed only ONE fuel injection pump.
- No size restriction on fuel pumps.
- One plunger per cylinder.
- No use of nitrous oxide allowed.
- 30.5x32 MAXIMUM tire size. Any cut allowed.
- Rules 4-7 of Limited Light Super Stock Class apply.
Super Farm

- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!
- This class will also follow NTPA rules.
Limited Pro Stock
9500lbs 10,000lbs
- ALL GENERAL RULES APPLY!!
- No Component Chassis
- 24.5 x 32 MAXIMUM size tires.
- No engine larger than 680 cubic inches. (+/- 1%)
- Engine head must be OEM agricultural type for that brand of engine. Port location must be as stock.
- After-market manifolds allowed.
- No overhead cams.
- Maximum two valves per cylinder.
- No inner/after coolers.
- Maximum size injection pump is P-pump.
- Diesel fuel only. NO alcohol/methanol additives. Fuel and water check valves.
- All OEM chassis super farm rules, including shielding and safety, apply to this class.
- Turbo size limited to a 4.1 Inlet.
